Informal Portraits refers to a very special style of school photography that Anna is perfecting. She does not use a back-drop, and children are not expected to sit in front of the camera and smile. Rather, she visits playschools, pre-schools and nurseries and takes candid photographs of the children as they play, paint, read and any other activities they may be involved in. Her results are beautifully natural; there are no sign of forced smiles anywhere. Children are more relaxed and confident in their own environment, and the portraits really demonstrate this. What she does could almost be described as a mini documentary and, apart from anything else, is a great way for parents to see what kinds of things their children do at nursery. This technique is a must for parents and nurseries who think there must be more to photography than the usual school portraits!
